MOSCOW, Jul 14 (PRIME) -- Russian association the National Council of Taxi, which unites regional non-commercial taxi institutions, has complained to President Vladimir Putin about Chinese service Didi that collects personal user data, according to a letter seen by PRIME reported on Wednesday.
“Didi collects a great deal of data on the movements of people in real time on the territories of its activities,” the letter read. The association warned of high risk of Didi’s sending the collected information abroad.
The document read that China’s cybersecurity regulator accused Didi of violation of the law on collection and processing of clients’ data.
A Didi spokesperson said it sees no reason for complaint.
Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said he is not familiar with the letter. “We have agencies that administrate the rules of our law on processing of personal data and, correspondingly, these agencies are to check it,” he said.
